DeKalb Tech Goes Green

Date: 28 Sep 2009 Comments: 0

           As the change of season approaches and the verdant colors of another Georgia summer give way to the sleepy hues of fall, new learning opportunities are budding for the students of DeKalb Technical College.

While January may seem an unlikely time for anything green, it turned out to be the ideal time to launch DeKalb Tech’s new Green Technologies Academy (GTA).  The GTA will prepare students for a work environment which is becoming more focused on energy efficiency and earth-friendly practices than ever before.

Students interested in “green” issues and wishing to become more conversant and sensitive as to how these issues are affecting the workplace might consider taking the GTA’s 5 core courses.  Those wishing to gain specialized “green” skills may choose new courses from any one of the following programs;

  • Air Conditioning Technology
  • Automotive Technology
  • Building Automation Systems
  • Commercial Refrigeration
  • Computer Graphics and Design
  • Home Integration Technology

Courses ranging from fuel cells to solar panels will be ready for students in January.  Springtime will blossom early in the classrooms of DeKalb Tech next year!  To find out more, give us a call at 404-297-9522 ext. 1265
